Terms of Service

Last updated: October 15, 2026

1. General provisions

These Terms of Service govern the use of the ReadmeTag platform (the “Platform”), which lets businesses create pages at {guid} and generate QR codes linking to those pages.

The Platform operator and contracting party is: Pawel Horzela (a natural person conducting unregistered business activity), contact: contact@readmetag.com, address: ul. Przewoz 44A / 15, 30-716 Krakow, Poland.

2. Who may use the Platform (B2B)

The service is intended exclusively for business entities (producers, creators, shops, brands, etc.), not for consumers buying for private purposes. By registering and providing a company name, you represent that you act as a business, not as a consumer under Polish or EU law, and that you are authorised to enter into these Terms on behalf of the entity whose name you provide.

3. Definitions

  • Account — a user account linked to an email address.
  • Page — a dashboard record with a unique public identifier (guid).
  • Content — Markdown materials published on a Readme Page, or the destination URL of a Redirect Page.
  • Redirect Page — a Page that, after a scan, shows a confirmation screen and then leads to an external URL you supply. We do not host the destination content.
  • Plan — a subscription tier defining Page limits and features.

4. Registration and sign-in

Sign-in is email-only via a magic link. You are responsible for securing access to your inbox. On first use of the dashboard, you must provide a company name and accept these Terms and the Acceptable Use Policy (AUP).

5. User content — responsibility and license

You are solely responsible for Content published on your Pages, including any Redirect Page destination URL and whatever sits behind it. The Platform acts as a hosting provider under the EU Digital Services Act (DSA): we do not editorially review Content before publication and are not liable for its legality, accuracy (e.g. allergens, composition, or safety of whatever a Page describes), or third-party claims arising from Content — provided we comply with the notice-and-action obligations below.

We may apply automated technical measures (e.g. sanitization, link checks, text classification) to reduce abuse. These are best-effort only: they are not editorial review, they do not guarantee detection of every prohibited Content, and they do not shift responsibility for Content to us. Despite our efforts, prohibited Content may still appear — in that case we act after notice as described in section 7.

You represent and warrant that you hold all rights necessary to publish the Content and to grant the license below — including copyright in texts and images, rights in trademarks and logos, and the consent of any person whose likeness or personal data the Content contains — and that publishing the Content on the Platform does not infringe any third-party rights.

You grant us a non-exclusive, limited license to host, display, copy (backup), and render Content solely to provide the service for as long as your Account exists.

6. Acceptable Use Policy (AUP)

Public Pages are reachable by anyone who scans a QR code — including minors. We do not use an age gate. You must not publish Content that:

  • is illegal or infringes third-party rights;
  • promotes hate, violence, discrimination, or harassment;
  • misrepresents the safety, composition, or properties of what it describes;
  • contains spam, malware, phishing, or links to fraudulent sites;
  • violates copyright or other intellectual property rights;
  • is pornographic, erotic, or sexually explicit — including images, descriptions, or links (including via a Redirect Page) that are sexually explicit or overtly suggestive;
  • advertises, describes, or leads to goods or services whose sale or advertising to people under 18 is prohibited or restricted — including alcoholic beverages, tobacco and nicotine products (including e-cigarettes and nicotine pouches), energy drinks, and illegal drugs or psychoactive substances. Coffee, tea, cocoa, and ordinary food are not covered by this ban, even if they are sometimes colloquially called stimulants.

The ban on pornography/sexually explicit content is about content, not product category: lawfully selling adult-oriented products (e.g. lubricants, condoms, lingerie, sex toys) is allowed as long as the description and images are ordinary retail-style — not pornographic, sexually explicit, or overtly suggestive.

The ban also covers abuse of the Platform itself. You must not: scan, probe, or overload the Platform or its infrastructure; attempt unauthorised access to other Accounts, Pages, or data; circumvent security measures, rate limits, or Plan limits; use automation in a way that degrades the service for others; or resell or sublicense access to the Platform (the dashboard or a Plan) to third parties without our written consent. We apply the same escalation to breaches of these rules as set out below.

We reserve the right — at our discretion, without any duty to monitor Content in advance — to refuse, unpublish, or remove any Content (including a Redirect Page destination) that we consider unlawful, in breach of these Terms, harmful, or otherwise inappropriate for the Platform. Exercising this right is not editorial review before publication (section 5) and does not make us a publisher of Content. Unpublishing a single Page does not automatically terminate the Account. For breaches of these rules we use the escalation ladder below. You are not entitled to damages for removal of Content that violated these rules or that we removed under this paragraph.

We may escalate: warning → unpublish Page → suspend account → permanent ban, retaining logs for legal proceedings where required.

7. Content reporting (notice-and-action)

Every public Page includes a “Report this page” link. Anyone may report — no account required. Form: /report. You may also email report@readmetag.com. We aim for an initial response within 24–48 business hours. Once we become aware of illegal Content, we act without undue delay, including blocking or removing public access. If the reporter provides an email address, we confirm receipt of the report and inform them of our decision (DSA Article 16). The owner of a Page whose Content is unpublished or removed receives a statement of reasons naming the provision breached, and may correct the Content and republish it or contest the decision by writing to contact@readmetag.com.

For extreme content (e.g. child exploitation material) we follow an internal procedure: immediate takedown, evidence preservation, and reporting to the competent authority.

8. Plans, limits, and payments

We offer a Free Plan (no cost, a limited number of Pages) and paid Plans (Small, Medium, Large) that differ by Page limit — see the pricing page for current limits and EUR prices. QR generation and download are never plan-gated, on every Plan including Free.

Paid Plans are billed on a monthly cycle and the subscription renews automatically until cancelled. Payments are processed by Stripe as an independent payment processor — we do not store payment card numbers. Price, currency, and billing cycle are shown on the Stripe-hosted payment page before you confirm purchase; before paying you must accept these Terms via a separate checkbox on the payment screen (distinct from the acceptance at registration).

Prices on the pricing page are net. We add VAT only when our tax status requires it; under the reverse charge, or when we are not charging VAT, the tax line is zero. At checkout you provide your full business name and full billing address. You also provide a tax number when Stripe supports one for that address's country. In Poland that is a NIP or an EU VAT number. In Spain and Hungary it is a local tax number or an EU VAT number. In the other EU countries it is an EU VAT number. In some countries outside the EU it is their local tax number. Where Stripe does not collect a tax number, the business name and address are enough to buy. Stripe stores these details on your billing profile. We do not store the tax number or the billing address in our database; we keep the Stripe customer and subscription ids, the status, the Plan, and the renewal date. If you provide a valid EU VAT number, the reverse-charge mechanism applies. Stripe automatically issues a payment receipt; we issue the invoice.

You may cancel a paid Plan yourself at any time via the “Manage billing” link (Stripe Billing Portal) in the dashboard — access to Plan features continues until the end of the current paid billing period. Deleting the account, and a permanent ban, end a paid Plan immediately. We do not refund the unused part of the period. Consistent with the B2B-only model (section 2), the 14-day right of withdrawal does not apply.

We may change Plan prices. We will notify you of an increase by email and/or dashboard banner at least 14 days in advance (section 13). A billing period you have already paid for stays at the old price; the new price applies from the first renewal after the notice period ends. If you do not accept it, you may cancel the Plan before that date.

Page view statistics are part of the Service on every Plan, including Free — they are not a premium feature. They are an estimate: ad blockers, disabled JavaScript, or other circumstances on the visitor's side may cause some views to go uncounted. You receive only aggregated data (never personal data about the people visiting your Page), and you may not base a claim against us on the counter showing fewer views than you expected.

9. QR permanence and payment issues

A printed QR code works regardless of your subscription status — a public Page is never removed or hidden because of a payment issue.

That sentence is about payment only. It does not limit our rights under section 6 (an AUP breach, or Content we consider inappropriate) — in those cases we may unpublish the Page, and a printed QR code will then no longer lead to the content.

If a Plan renewal payment fails, for 7 days (the grace period) your Plan and Page limits stay unchanged — the dashboard shows only a warning with the date by which you need to update your payment method. If payment is not recovered within 7 days, we block creating new Pages and editing existing ones; deleting and restoring your own Pages remains possible, and Pages published earlier continue to work publicly.

If the subscription is ultimately closed (cancellation, or payment never recovers), your account reverts to the Free Plan — existing Pages beyond the Free limit are not deleted or unpublished, but you cannot create new Pages beyond that limit until you purchase a paid Plan again. The same rule applies when downgrading to a lower-priced paid Plan.

Regenerating a guid invalidates prior QR prints and is your responsibility, regardless of Plan.

10. Platform intellectual property

You retain rights to your Content and brand. Rights to Platform software, the ReadmeTag brand, and UI elements remain ours.

11. Limitation of liability

The service is provided “as is”. We work to keep the Platform running without interruption, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free availability; maintenance, outages, and external factors may temporarily limit it.

In a B2B relationship, our total liability arising out of these Terms and your use of the Platform is capped at the greater of the fees you paid in the preceding 12 months or EUR 100. We are not liable for lost profits, revenue, goodwill, or loss of data, or for indirect or consequential damages — within limits allowed by Polish law. These limits do not apply to intentional harm.

12. Termination

You may delete your account from the dashboard (Account) or by contacting us. After you schedule deletion, public Pages go offline immediately; you have 7 days to cancel by signing in again. Scheduling deletion cancels a paid Plan immediately, with no refund for the unused part of the period already paid. A permanent ban does the same. Undoing the deletion restores the account, but not the subscription. After 7 days the account and Page content are permanently removed. If Stripe cannot cancel billing then, the account stays longer — until the subscription is cancelled. Content reports and moderation logs may be retained for up to 12 months (without further hosting of Pages). We may unpublish a single Page under section 6 without closing the Account. We may suspend or delete accounts for serious breaches.

Suspension means all your Pages stop being publicly visible (a QR code leads to a “page being prepared” notice) and you cannot publish Pages; you can still sign in, edit drafts, and delete or restore Pages. Only the operator lifts a suspension, once the matter is resolved. A permanent ban means the account is deleted as described in this section (without the option for you to cancel) and the email address used is blocked from registering again. We notify you of either decision by email with a statement of reasons (section 7), except where advance notice could prejudice proceedings by public authorities.

13. Changes to these Terms

We will notify you of material changes by email and/or dashboard banner at least 14 days in advance. If you do not accept changes, you may terminate before they take effect.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by Polish law. Polish courts have jurisdiction. In our B2B-only model, consumer protections (including ODR platforms) do not apply.

15. General provisions

Force majeure. We are not liable for failure or delay in performance caused by events beyond our reasonable control — including natural events, acts of public authorities, war, power or network outages, and widespread failures of internet infrastructure or of upstream providers the Platform depends on (hosting, DNS). This does not relieve you of the obligation to pay for services provided.

Severability. If any provision is found invalid or unenforceable, the rest remain in force; the invalid provision is replaced by a valid one that comes closest to its economic purpose.

Entire agreement. These Terms (including the rules in section 6) are the entire agreement between you and us regarding use of the Platform and supersede earlier arrangements on the subject. The Privacy Policy describes how personal data is processed and does not alter the terms of the agreement.

The English version of these Terms is canonical. In case of inconsistency with a translation, the English version prevails.
